Public Health England (PHE) and NHS England (NHSE) brought together over forty North West (NW) key stakeholders on the 17th June 2015 in Manchester to reflect and build on the previous successes of the NW Tuberculosis (TB) Summit and discuss the transition to a NW TB Control Board.

Graham Urwin (NHS England) and Jane Rossini (PHE NW) clearly set out the future and the vision for the TB Control Board and highlighted the importance of a system wide approach to addressing TB.

The event offered an opportunity to hear about the National Collaborative TB Strategy for England and some of the work the North West TB Summit has delivered since its establishment in 2011, including a systematic “Cohort Audit” of all TB cases, a new care pathway for children with TB, an annual stock-take of TB nurse capacity and work to raise the profile of the importance of tackling the disease.

Stakeholders had an opportunity to reflect, discuss and shape the structure and future priorities of the North West TB Control Board.
